MIKKO PAAKKOLA
The work of Mikko Paakkola is a must see for anybody who enjoys pure paintings. The intense colors are constructed in pigments to show a landscape which forms a panorama of absolute silence. The rude character brings up the Nordic light, the mysterious atmosphere of the midnight sun, but also the unique character of the flat Belgian landscape - the landscape which has strongly influenced the painter.
Mikko Paakkola (*1961) graduated from Turku School of Fine Arts (1981-85) and completed his postgraduate studies in Paris, l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (1988-90). He lived in Brussels from 1996 to 2006. In the 2000s Paakkola’s work has been exhibited in many European galleries, in Belgium, Sweden, Holland, France and Germany.
